It has been way too long since my last post, and i extend my deepest appologies to everyone out there in the blogging community. I know you nervously wait for every post here on “life as an ostovic” just like i do for all of your posts. : )
Anyway, a lot has hapened and I think I will take after my friend gary underwood and make this post in the bullet-point format!! So here goes . . .
- The year ended well for us despite the fact that I wrecked our Nissan Sentra. The good news is that we have an amazing family and will be getting a new car for free in the near future! So if you see one of us driving around in a pontiac grand prix, honk your horn and give us a wave.
- Jack is doing very well. He turns one next Friday the 17th!! I just cant belive it! He is VERY mobile crawling everywhere and putting as many things as he can in his mouth. I am confidant he will soon be walking. Jack is turining out to be a very extroverted little boy who loves to hang out with people, and is pretty easy going. His latest sounds include; aaaaaaaahhhhhh (in a loud high pitch voice when he wants more food), da dee (but not necessarily when he is looking at me), uh - ohhh (when he drops his sippy cup), and the sound that you make breathing in air really fast when you are startled, only he does it randomly. : ) He also is learning to sign “more”, and likes to stand in front of the TV and slap the screen with is hand. Isn’t life good!?
- It looks like Melanie will be getting a job up here at a retirement center as an activity director. It seems to me that she was born to do this. S he can be acurately described as a hostes to the world!! This job will just fit her so well and we are hoping that she will be offered it. (We will fin out on Monday) It will be part time and she can set her hours which is really great!! Now we are in the middle of orchestrating child care!! Yikes!
- We are still trying to sell our house in Akron to no avail. We have had two offers, but they did not pan out. Things have been pretty quiet this past week and 1/2, but we keep praying that someone will just fall in love with it. We are definately getting anxious to find our own place up here.
- I am really enjoying my new job and we do not doubt for one second that we are supposed to be here. Each day we are reassured of that more and more. Even with all of the hard things of transitioning into a totally new life in a new place, we would not change a thing. I feel as if we are learning so much. Melanie and I are both learning to grow closer to each other and have been discovering in ourselves a new found affection for the One who has knit us together and given us meaning and purpose in life. There really is no greater way to live your life than to strive to know Jesus. Not that life gets any easier, it doesn’t. But there is a fullness to life that cannot be found anywhere else. I am realizing that it is so easy to forget that, turn around one day and realize that you are not even close to being the person you want to be. But now is not the time to share everything rolling around in my head. More on that in a future post.
- It is hard to keep posting seeing that we do not have as much access to the internet as we have previously. Hopefully that will change when we get our own place, but intil then we will have to make due.
Till next time (I hope to have some pics then),
derrak
